Fans are not happy about Red Dead Redemption’s upcoming port

Fans have criticized Rockstar Games’ decision to re-release 2010’s Red Dead Redemption on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch with seemingly little improvements for a price of $49.99.

The details:

• Yesterday, Rockstar announced that Red Dead Redemption and its Undead Nightmare DLC will be released on other platforms on August 17 after being locked on the Xbox 360 and PS3 for over 13 years. Double Eleven, based in the UK, is behind the port, which will also be available in physical form in October.
• The community, on the other hand, has had a mixed reaction to the news, with some delighted that they can now play it on all modern consoles, with the original Xbox 360 release also being backward compatible, and others harshly criticizing Rockstar, calling the release a "greedy cash grab." The points of criticism appear to be that the port appears to have nothing more than a few minor graphical upgrades to textures and details, that there is no multiplayer, that there is no 60FPS support, that the game still does not have a PC release, and that the developer is charging the same price for the title as it did back in 2010.
• Using a YouTube dislikes extension, it appears that Rockstar's official upload of the trailer currently has 33K likes and 85K dislikes. Fans are also expressing their dissatisfaction by leaving comments beneath the video, such as "I have to give credit to Rockstar. They managed to not even reach even my lowest expectations," and "As a Rockstar fan and a Red Dead fan, I’m utterly ashamed at what this company has become. This re-release is lackluster and not what fans were hoping for. Rockstar, you never fail to disappoint.”
• The game's logo has been updated on Rockstar's website, and a Korean rating board has re-rated a new version of the title, fueling speculation that it will be remastered or completely remade within the engine of its sequel. It's unclear whether this is the rumored announcement, or if the company plans to make another about the much larger project later in August.
