After years of rumors surrounding a port of Red Dead Redemption 2 to current-generation platforms, a prolific leaker has said that the updated versions still exist and that a Nintendo Switch 2 port is in the works.

The details:

  • Following the launch of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S back in 2020, fans of 2018’s Red Dead Redemption 2 have hoped for a port of the game that would provide improved performance and visuals, much like Grand Theft Auto V’s port. However, it has been rumored that while it was in the works in the past, Rockstar had scrapped the project as it continued to develop Grand Theft Auto VI.
  • Last week, fans spotted that RDR 2’s Steam store page had been updated with a new description for the first time since 2019. This is a similar situation to Virtuos’ release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, where the original game’s listing was altered prior to the remaster’s announcement, reigniting rumors of a major RDR 2 update.
  • NateTheHate, a popular insider and leaker with a solid track record regarding upcoming AAA games, has also claimed that Switch 2 and updated current-gen ports do indeed exist. With the changes to the Steam store page and the game’s seventh anniversary coming up on October 26, fans believe that it could be announced very soon.
