PS5 Pro design reportedly leaks online ahead of announcement
A reliable leaker has shared an image of what appears to be the PlayStation 5 Pro, stating that the mid-generation upgrade will be revealed next month.
The details:
Respected leaker billbil-kun has shared an illustration of what is said to be the PS5 Pro, which has a similar design to the PS5 Slim with a slightly wider body and three black stripes between its faceplates, but will continue to sport a white and black color scheme. The system appears to have the same two front USB-C ports as the Slim, and billbil-kun believes it may be compatible with the Slim's faceplates.
It's unclear whether both a physical and digital version of the PS5 Pro will be available, as the only image seen lacked a disc drive. One theory is that Sony intends to only release a digital version of the Pro, as with the release of the Slim, users can now buy a disc drive separately and easily connect it to their system.
According to billbil-kun, Sony plans to announce the console "very soon" in the first half of September. This is in line with claims that the company plans to hold a State of Play presentation in late September, during which it may promote the Pro's more powerful hardware.
The leak makes no mention of the console's internals, but earlier this year, YouTuber Moore's Law is Dead leaked official documentation for the Pro, including detailed specifications. Multiple sources confirmed the documentation's authenticity before Sony removed the video, effectively confirming its legitimacy.
