PlayStation has been announced as an exhibitor at this year's Tokyo Game Show, its first full appearance since 2019.

The details:

  • As spotted by Insider Gaming, Sony Interactive Entertainment is listed as an exhibitor on the event's website, where it can be found under the "Indie Game Area." It's unclear what it will show off, but fans expect a PS5 Pro reveal, as it may be too early for any game announcements given Sony's plans to not release any major titles before April 2025.

  • Although PlayStation attended last year's show, it only showcased independent titles, with the company's last full appearance coming in 2019, when Hideo Kojima discussed Death Stranding ahead of its release later that year.

  • The Tokyo Game Show will take place from September 26 to September 29 at Makuhari Messe in Mihama-ku, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, with 731 exhibitors across 3190 booths. Other confirmed attendees include Capcom, Square Enix, Konami, and many more Japanese publishers and developers.

  • In recent years, PlayStation has chosen to announce future releases via its State of Play showcases rather than attending in-person events. It confirmed earlier this year that it would not be present at Gamescom 2024, and had not attended the now-defunct E3 since 2019.
