Skyblivion, a mod that aims to recreate The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in the engine of its sequel, Skyrim, has been delayed once again as its development team requests additional help to finish the project.

The details:

  • In a new YouTube video, project lead Rebelzize provided an update on Skyblivion, announcing that it would no longer be able to release in 2025, a release window that was provided way back in 2023. He explained that there are “some last challenges to overcome that are going to require a little bit more time,” adding that the team is now aiming for a 2026 launch.
  • However, Rebelzize added that the mod is now in the “best state it's ever been,” with the game’s world map, main dungeons, cities, interiors, and more all complete. Currently, the team is still working on random dungeons scattered throughout the world as well as some parts of the Imperial City, with all locations expected to be complete before the end of 2025, allowing the team to focus on quests, QA, and other smaller but crucial parts of the project.
  • The Skyblivion team has encountered one major hurdle with the project, asking for community volunteers to help finish up the mod’s cinematics. Post-release content has also been discussed, such as the recreation of Oblivion’s Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansions, the introduction of underwater combat and spellcrafting, and much more.
