Nintendo reportedly showed the Switch 2 to developers at Gamescom

Nintendo is said to have shown off its new console behind closed doors to developers at Gamescom 2023, complete with tech demos demonstrating its potential performance.

The details:

• Nintendo partners were shown off the upcoming console in private, according to Eurogamer and VGC, with a selection of specially created tech demos showcasing the power of the new system. One of the demos reportedly included a faster frame rate and higher resolution version of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, though this does not imply that the game will be re-released.
• According to VGC, Nintendo also demonstrated Epic's The Matrix Awakens tech demo running on the hardware, which was created to demonstrate the power of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The demo, according to reports, was running with graphics similar to the demo on the aforementioned systems, but with advanced ray tracing thanks to Nvidia's DLSS upscaling technology.
• Nintendo has yet to reveal any details about the console, though multiple sources have reported that it will be released in late 2024. The Switch successor is also expected to store physical games on cartridges, though it is unclear whether the console will be backward compatible.
