Nintendo has announced price increases for its Switch Online subscription service in Japan, effective July 1, 2026, marking the first revision to the service's pricing since it launched in 2017.

The details:

  • The individual 12-month standard plan rises from ¥2,400 to ¥3,000, while the one-month plan increases from ¥306 to ¥400 and the three-month plan from ¥815 to ¥1,000. Family plan prices are also going up, with the annual option increasing from ¥4,500 to ¥5,800.
  • The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier is similarly affected. The annual individual plan climbs from ¥4,900 to ¥5,900, and the family equivalent rises from ¥8,900 to ¥9,900.
  • Subscribers whose next billing date falls after July 1 will automatically be charged at the new rates. Nintendo has advised those who want to avoid the increase to disable auto-renewal before it takes effect.
  • South Korea has also been confirmed as a market where similar Switch Online price revisions are planned, though Nintendo has not announced changes for the US or Europe at this time.
  • The increases are part of a broader pricing revision across Nintendo products that also covers Switch 2 hardware in Japan. Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa has previously cited global memory chip costs, linked in part to AI data centre demand, as a contributing factor to profitability pressures.
