Ireland-based game developer Playrix is pulling out of Russia and Belarus.

The decision: It's an extension of decisions it made earlier in the year.

  • The studio had already suspended commercial activities in Russia and Belarus since the beginning of the invasion.
  • Now, in order to "maintain its operations," it's entirely suspending all activities in the two nations due to the "continued aggression against Ukraine."
  • Changes include closing its offices in Russia and Belarus and relocating the remaining staff from there to other countries.
  • It will still operate in Ukraine and plans to provide "continuous support" to its 1,500 employees nationwide, as per a release.

The company: It's been vocal about the invasion since it began.

  • Playrix is behind games such as Homescapes, Farmscapes, Manor Matters, Wildscapes, Gardenscapes, and Fishdom.
  • Per a release, it has a player base of over 100M worldwide and employs people from across 30 countries.
  • Its Ukrainian branch announced in March that it would be donating $500K to its domestic Red Cross for humanitarian needs.
  • "We employ more than 1,500 people in Ukraine, and their safety has been our top priority since day one," said Playrix Ukraine CEO Stanislav Udovichenko at the time.
