Nintendo and Illumination have unveiled a trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, giving fans their first look at the follow-up to 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie and its new cast.

The details:

  • As shown during the movie’s dedicated Nintendo Direct showcase, the new trailer confirmed that Rosalina and the mischievous Bowser Jr. will make an appearance in the film, voiced by Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson and Uncut Gems co-director Benny Safdie, respectively. However, Yoshi has yet to be revealed despite speculation from fans that he will star in the movie.
  • Illumination has said that it is just “weeks away” from finishing up on animating the film, and it has also been confirmed that the rest of the cast from its predecessor will return. However, it added that some characters set to appear "are really deep cuts" that hardcore fans may be surprised to see.
  • Set to release on April 3, 2026, in the US and other territories, with an April 24 release in Japan, the film will be once again directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, with writer Matthew Fogel and composer Brian Tyler also making a return.
