NetEase has unveiled Blood Message, a new single player game from 24 Entertainment, the developer of battle royale Naraka: Bladepoint.

The details:

  • The single player third-person action-adventure title is set in ancient China during the events of the real-world "Dunhuang's Uprising." It is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and is coming to both PC and consoles, though no release window has been revealed as of yet. "Caught in the crossfire of a righteous uprising and driven by loyalty to both family and country, players will embark on a perilous eastward journey to deliver a message that holds the fate of their war-torn homeland," the game’s description reads. "Amidst the shifting sands of history, they will etch a final tale of loyalty."

  • According to a press release sent alongside the game's first trailer, the game will feature "visceral, realistic combat blending stealth and survival mechanics" as well as "expansive landscapes inspired by the diverse terrains of East and Central Asia." It also appears to be a very different experience than Naraka: Bladepoint, with slower combat and a focus on the narrative.

  • Due to its cinematic style, it has drawn comparisons to Western titles such as Tomb Raider, Uncharted, and The Last of Us. Others have welcomed the recent increase in Chinese-developed games, which follows last year's release of Black Myth: Wukong, which broke player records and will be available on Xbox in August.
