Blizzard Entertainment is teasing a new StarCraft game days before BlizzCon

Blizzard has kicked off a mysterious ARG-style teaser campaign on the official StarCraft website just days ahead of BlizzCon 2026, which runs September 12-13. The timing lines up with reports from Bloomberg's Jason Schreier that StarCraft will be "the headline" of this year's show.

The teaser involves glitching effects across the StarCraft site, consistent with an ARG reveal campaign. Reports have suggested the new project is not a traditional RTS sequel but a third-person shooter set in the StarCraft universe, developed under former Far Cry executive producer Dan Hay.
A separate report suggested South Korean publisher Nexon was close to sealing a deal with Blizzard for StarCraft IP development rights, adding another layer of uncertainty about what exactly gets announced and who's making it.
StarCraft 2's last major content update came in 2020, and the franchise has been largely dormant since. BlizzCon is just over a week away.
