Mobile developer Jam City lays off 10% of its workforce
Jam City, a Los Angeles-based mobile game developer and publisher, has confirmed that it has laid off 10% of its workforce due to the current state of the gaming market.

A company representative confirmed the cuts to Polygon's Nicole Carpenter, stating that approximately 85 employees were directly impacted as of August 2. In an internal email shared by Carpenter, Jam City CEO Josh Yguado cited the economy as a factor in the decision. "After a challenging 2023, industry analysts predicted an upward trend for gaming in 2024," Yguado wrote in a message to staff. "While we have seen moderate improvements in some areas, the overall upward trend has not materialized as expected. Projections indicate these conditions will continue for some time, with improvements not expected until the second half of 2025."
Carpenter also reported that Jam City had "lower-than-expected game performance in several of [its] key titles" such as DC Heroes & Villains, Jurassic World Alive, and Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery.
The developer previously laid off approximately 200 employees in August 2022, with the majority of the cuts taking place at subsidiary Ludia. The company stated it was a "necessary move to enhance our flexibility and increase operating efficiencies, better positioning Jam City for long-term growth," citing similar economic concerns.
