Mojang has confirmed that Minecraft will arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27, 2026. The Switch 2 version will use the Vibrant Visuals graphics upgrade as its default setting, bringing enhanced lighting and shadow effects to the game's blocky worlds. Switch owners will be able to transfer their save data to the new version, and a digital upgrade path has been confirmed for players who already own the game.

The details:

  • Vibrant Visuals will be the default graphical experience on Switch 2, offering improved lighting, shadows, and overall visual fidelity compared to the base game. The setting has previously been available on other platforms but will be the out-of-the-box experience on Switch 2.
  • The Super Mario Mash-Up Pack, an exclusive to Nintendo versions of Minecraft, is also receiving an update to take full advantage of the Vibrant Visuals upgrade.
  • Existing Switch players will be able to carry their worlds over to the Switch 2 version. Mojang has confirmed a digital upgrade option for those who already own Minecraft on Switch, though pricing and eligibility details are still to be announced.
