Insomniac Games has finally unveiled gameplay of its upcoming Wolverine title, confirming that it will arrive in Fall 2026.

The details:

  • Four years after its initial announcement, Wolverine has received its first gameplay trailer as part of PlayStation's latest State of Play showcase. The short trailer shows the titular character fighting with his claws, jumping across rooftops, and engaging in intense chase sequences.
  • So far, it has been revealed that the game will feature characters such as Omega Red and Mystique and various locations from Wolverine’s comic and movie appearances, including Japan and the fictional Southeast Asian island of Madripoor. “Like our Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise, we’re once again combining our superpowers to deliver an original take on a beloved character based on Marvel Comics,” reads an accompanying blog post. “Our Wolverine, AKA Logan, is played by actor Liam McIntyre, who taps into the rage, pain, and nuances of this iconic character. In this story, he is on the hunt to uncover the secrets of a dark past that keeps eluding him.”
  • Wolverine was one of several Insomniac projects that were affected by a major hack targeting the company in 2023, which resulted in the leak of thousands of internal builds and documents online. Among the files were playable early versions of Wolverine, but the studio confirmed that development would proceed as planned.
