Honor of Kings: World - Tencent’s impressive upcoming open-world RPG
TiMi Studio Group, a Tencent subsidiary, is currently developing a new action RPG set in the world of Honor of Kings. If the name doesn't sound familiar, Honor of Kings is one of the most popular games in China, with gameplay similar to League of Legends, and has been adapted for the global market as Arena of Valor.
Honor of Kings: World has a combo-based combat system with magical and physical abilities, and players are tasked with fighting a variety of enemies across a sprawling open world that incorporates many elements from its MOBA counterpart. Multiplayer is also included as an optional mode, allowing friends to take down bosses together.
It appears that it will have a character system similar to Tower of Fantasy, allowing players to choose between characters based on the weapon they are holding. Fans of the MOBA have already begun taking note of returning characters such as Ying and Musashi.
The game is being built with Unreal Engine, and based on the gameplay so far, it appears that its developers intend to take advantage of its power to deliver high-quality visuals at a consistent frame rate. Its art style has also been compared to that of Phantasy Star Online 2 and Genshin Impact.
Its release date has not yet been announced, but it is expected that China will receive the game first. TiMi has also confirmed that it will be available on "multiple platforms," most likely PC and mobile, as these are the most popular in mainland China.
