Sony has quietly removed restrictions from several PlayStation PC releases that previously prevented fans from purchasing games in certain countries that did not support PlayStation Network.
The details:
In the past, PlayStation games that were released on PC were previously unavailable for purchase in several regions where PSN was not supported, as many of them required an account to play. This prevented fans from getting their hands on Marvel's Spider-Man 2, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, God of War Ragnarök, and Helldivers 2, unless they found a way to circumvent this issue.
As shared by Wario64, Sony has removed all regional restrictions from several of its most popular games on Steam as of June 13. The company has made no public announcement about the change, but the only region where the titles are still unavailable is the Russian Federation.
Sony announced in January that it would remove the PSN requirement for PC releases due to fan backlash, but the service would remain optional for those who wanted Trophy integration and other PlayStation features. Last year, Helldivers 2 was updated to require a PSN account, causing the title to be removed from sale and rendered unplayable in 177 countries before being quickly reversed.
