Sandfall Interactive

At the latest edition of Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards, Sandfall Interactive made history with its critically acclaimed RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, winning the most awards in a single show.

The details:

  • The Game Awards 2025, held yesterday in Los Angeles, saw Expedition 33 nominated for a record 13 award categories. Unsurprisingly, the Sandfall Interactive team was successful in most of these, winning nine awards in total, including Game of the Year, Best Indie Game, Best Debut Indie Game, Best Art Direction, Best Score, Best RPG, Best Narrative, Best Game Direction, and Best Performance for Jennifer English’s performance as Maelle.
  • Despite being nominated for 13 awards, the game could only win 11 in total, with actors Ben Starr and Charlie Cox being nominated for Best Performance alongside co-star Jennifer English. The two categories that Expedition 33 lost out on were Best Audio Design, which went to Battlefield 6, and Player’s Voice, a fan-voted award that was won by open-world gacha title Wuthering Waves.
  • The previous record for most wins during a single show was set by Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II, which won seven awards back in 2020. Expedition 33’s dominance during the show also meant that no other game or studio won more than a single award.
