Sony has shared the minimum and recommended specifications for God of War Ragnarök's PC port ahead of its release, revealing that the game will require a significant amount of storage space to install.

The details:

  • Ahead of the long-awaited port's release on September 19, PlayStation has published a new blog post outlining the recommended hardware required to achieve different levels of performance. One of the most notable requirements is that players own an SSD with at least 190 GB of usable space, which excludes anyone still using an HDD and takes up a significant amount of storage comparable to that of modern Call of Duty games.

  • The PS5 version of the game is only 84 GB in size, but the title used an image upsampler to improve the quality of textures whenever they appeared. Since the technology was designed for console use, it's likely that it won't be present on PC, with 4K quality textures now taking up the majority of the game's required space.

  • As for the rest of the specs, those who are happy to play the game at 1080p 30 FPS on low settings will need a GTX 1060/RX 5500 XT GPU, an Intel i5-4670K/Ryzen 3 1200 CPU, and 8GB RAM, which is much weaker than the average PC build nowadays. On the other hand, those who want to max out their settings will need a powerful rig with at least an RTX 4070 Ti/RX 7900 XT and an Intel i5-11600K/Ryzen 7 3700X.

  • Ragnarök will also include support for Nvidia's DLSS 3.7, AMD's FSR 3.1, and Intel's XeSS 1.3 technologies. However, it will require a PlayStation Network account, as have other recent PS5 ports, despite community complaints. The requirement has previously led to backlash against Sony when it attempted to add PSN to Helldivers 2, resulting in the reversal of the decision.
