Bethesda has confirmed that 2020 mobile RPG The Elder Scrolls Blades will go permanently offline on June 30, 2026.

The details:

  • As spotted by fans on Reddit, the game has now been delisted from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and is no longer available for download via the Nintendo Switch eShop. Players who have logged into the RPG have been met with a message confirming that it will be shut down in just a few months, though Bethesda has yet to issue a public statement regarding the closure.
  • Any remaining players have been gifted bundles of its in-game currencies, Gems and Sigils, with the price of each item in the store being reduced to just 1 of its respective currency. Bethesda states that it hopes that the final gesture will allow players to โ€œenjoy all content Blades has to offerโ€ prior to the shutdown.
  • Despite mixed reviews, Blades found a dedicated playerbase, with many enjoying its dungeon-delving and town-building gameplay loop, putting a spin on the traditional Elder Scrolls formula. However, the closure of the game now means that just one mobile game based on the IP, The Elder Scrolls: Castles, will be playable for the foreseeable future following the shutdown of card battler The Elder Scrolls Legends last year.
