Former Turn 10 developer says Forza Motorsport series is “no more” following recent layoffs

Following major cuts at several Microsoft-owned game studios, including Turn 10 Studios, a former employee has claimed that the mainline Forza series is “no more,” with its team being let go.
The details:
Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Microsoft was making company-wide job cuts, affecting many of its gaming subsidiaries such as ZeniMax, Activision Blizzard King, and Rare. It was also shared that Forza developer Turn 10 was among the affected developers, reportedly laying off around 50% of its workforce, including several veterans.
In a post to Facebook, former Turn 10 content coordinator Fred Russell shared the news that the studio has “shuttered the Forza Motorsport space, and the team is no more.” He explained that the Forza spin-off series, Forza Horizon, will remain, but that the Forza Motorsport side has been “shuttered.”
First debuting in 2005, Forza has remained one of Xbox’s core franchises over the years, being praised for its tighter, more realistic driving mechanics compared to arcade racers of the time, as well as its amazing graphics. While Forza Motorsport has remained the go-to sim racer for many, the Forza Horizon series has grown and even potentially surpassed its popularity, offering a more casual-friendly open-world racing experience.
