Despite job cuts at Forza Motorsport developer Turn 10 back in June, Microsoft has stated that the studio will “continue to support” the series.

The details:

  • Microsoft announced in June that mass layoffs would take place at Xbox and a number of its studios, including King, Rare, and ZeniMax, affecting over 9,000 employees. Turn 10 was later confirmed to be one of the subsidiaries hit by the cuts, with a former employee claiming that the track-based racing series Forza Motorsport is "no more" as a result.
  • Microsoft has now commented on the state of the series in a statement posted on social media, confirming that it will still receive support going forward, with the post including a link to a page detailing a new update for Forza Motorsport. “Dear Forza Community, we know many of you have questions about what’s next for the Forza franchise, and we appreciate the support of our incredible community,” the statement reads. “We wanted to assure players that Turn 10 and Playground Games will continue to support Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon 5.”
  • While it was previously stated that the more casual-friendly open-world Horizon sub-series would continue, it should be noted that this statement only applies to the latest installment in the franchise. However, given that the series is one of Xbox's best-selling exclusives, it is likely that the statement only mentions Horizon 5 because it is the most recent game, rather than indicating that the franchise will be coming to an end.
