Xbox announces layoffs, ZeniMax and King among affected studios

Following recent reports, Microsoft has officially confirmed it is making cuts across its gaming division, affecting up to 4% of its current workforce.
The details:
Last week, it was reported by Bloomberg and The Verge that Microsoft was planning to make significant company-wide cuts. It was said that the wave of layoffs was “expected to be big” and that Microsoft would also restructure “Xbox distribution across central Europe.”
As reported by the Seattle Times, Microsoft has now confirmed that the reports were correct. The tech giant has stated that up to 9,100 employees could be affected by the layoffs, which will impact the entire company, including its gaming subsidiaries. “We continue to implement organizational and workforce changes that are necessary to position the company and teams for success in a dynamic marketplace,” a Microsoft spokesperson said.
According to Bloomberg, the cuts will affect Candy Crush developer King, which will lose around 200 employees, equal to around 10% of its workforce. Bethesda's parent company, ZeniMax, has also informed employees across Europe and the US that reductions are currently in progress, with UK-based Rare also laying off an undisclosed number of staff.
