Final Fantasy XVI could be coming to Xbox, leaker claims
NateDrake, a reliable leaker, claims that Square Enix is planning to announce that Final Fantasy XVI will be coming to Xbox after debuting as a timed PS5 exclusive last year.
The details:
In response to another post about FF16 coming to Xbox (via Xbox Era), NateDrake stated that a port βis going to happen. Just waiting for Square to announce it.β This comes after a profile for the game was discovered in a recent Nvidia driver, indicating that a PC announcement is imminent.
The PC port is expected to be announced at Gamescom, where director Naoki Yoshida will be present following the release of FF14's Dawntrail in June. Yoshida previously stated that he wanted to make the game available to as many players as possible, and given that the PC version was in the "final stages of optimization" back in March, some of that extra time could have been spent on an Xbox port.
FF16 was released as a timed exclusive for PS5 in June 2023, with the agreement in place until the end of the year, but Square confirmed that the RPG would not be available on other platforms right away. To date, it is the only major Final Fantasy title that is not available on Xbox, with FF7 Remake and Rebirth arriving on PC years after its PS4 release.
