Bloober Team says recent Silent Hill 2 trailer "does not reflect the spirit of the game"
Bloober Team has stated that the recent combat-focused trailer for the Silent Hill 2 remake does not "capture the spirit of the game" following mixed fan reception.
The details:
Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno spoke with inwestorzy.tv (via Eurogamer Poland) about the mixed reaction to the trailer, which was shown at PlayStation's State of Play event. “We are not responsible for the marketing side,” he said. “That is entirely the responsibility of [Konami]. Certainly this trailer does not reflect the spirit of the game. “It is not the spirit of either what it used to be or what we are creating now. We are trying to fully reflect this romantic vision about the game, which debuted 22 years ago. We think that when players see the real gameplay, the real game, they will judge it in a completely different way.”
The trailer concentrated on the game's combat, which was notoriously frustrating in the original release, prompting the developer to switch to a third-person action perspective. This led some fans to believe that the game's horror element had been stripped back in favor of Resident Evil-style action.
Bloober Team has previously blamed Konami for poor communication, telling fans that the project was still on track but insisting that it was the publisher's responsibility to share updates in late 2023.
