Atari has announced it has acquired several of Ubisoft’s smaller IPs and plans to rerelease them under their publishing labels with new content.

The details:

  • Ubisoft has sold the rights to the 2015 game Grow Home and its sequel Grow Up, as well as Child of Eden, I Am Alive, and Cold Fear to the iconic publisher. It has been stated that the games will be re-released on modern platforms with completely new content.
  • It is currently unknown what will happen to the existing versions of the games on each storefront, as some are still available through Ubisoft's publishing. While 2005's Cold Fear is no longer available on modern platforms, the other four games can still be found on the PlayStation and Xbox stores, implying that the re-release plans will result in them being delisted soon.
  • Ubisoft and Atari have not revealed any additional information about the IP transfers, but given that Ubisoft has done very little with the titles since their respective launches over the last two decades, it's likely that the price tag for each of them was not too high. The Assassin's Creed publisher has also struggled in recent years, having moved its most important properties to a new subsidiary in partnership with Tencent and likely looking to reduce the size of its catalog.
