Apex Legends 2 could be a possibility as EA begins planning a "more meaningful update" to improve commercial performance

Just months after dismissing the idea of making an Apex Legends sequel, EA CEO Andrew Wilson has now stated that a "Apex 2.0" could be the key to improving the game's poor commercial performance.
The details:
Back in October, Wilson confirmed that Apex Legends’ revenue and player engagement were on the decline, despite efforts to increase interest through changes to the game's monetization systems. The executive explained that "large systematic change" would be required to improve its performance, but added that a full sequel was not in the works.
In the company's latest earnings call, Wilson admitted that Apex has "not been headed in the direction we have wanted for some time." It also appears that a sequel or major overhaul of some kind is now in the works, as the company believes Apex requires a "more meaningful update," with Respawn currently working on plans for the game's future. “Sometime on a longer-term time horizon, there will be an even bigger, more meaningful update to that broader game experience and Apex 2.0, if you will,” he said. “This will not be the final incarnation of Apex.”
However, the update will not be arriving anytime soon, as the CEO stated that it plans to release the next Battlefield first, which is set to launch prior to April 2026. "You should imagine we probably wouldn't drop that on top of a Battlefield launch," Wilson said. "So from a timing standpoint, our thinking right now is that that would exist post-Battlefield."
