A24's Elden Ring film adaptation now in development, directed by Alex Garland

It has been confirmed that A24 and Bandai Namco Entertainment are creating a film adaptation of FromSoftware's hit RPG Elden Ring. The film will be directed by Ex Machina director Alex Garland and co-produced by Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin.
The details:
As reported by Deadline, Garland will write and direct the film, which will be produced by Peter Rice, George R. R. Martin, Vince Gerardis, Andrew Macdonald, and Allon Reich of DNA Films. There is currently no set release window for the film.
Martin notably helped develop some of Elden Ring's lore, characters, and world-building alongside game director Hidetaka Miyazaki. However, it is unknown whether Miyazaki or FromSoftware will be involved in the project in any capacity or if the film will follow the game's story.
Garland has previous experience in the gaming industry, having worked as a story supervisor on the Devil May Cry reboot DmC: Devil May Cry and as a co-writer on Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. Rice, Macdonald, and Reich have also previously collaborated with the director on films including Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later, for which Garland wrote the screenplay.
A24, best known for producing high-quality independent films such as Everything Everywhere All at Once, is also working on a Death Stranding film. The production company announced that Kojima Productions will co-produce the film, which will be directed by Michael Sarnoski, who directed A Quiet Place: Day One. A24 has previously worked with Garland on 2024's Civil War, which he wrote and directed and is the company's most expensive production to date.
