After Paradox Interactive revealed that two of Vampire: The Masquerade—Bloodlines 2’s clans would be locked behind day one DLC, the publisher has confirmed that they will now be available in the base game following backlash.

Last month, Paradox Interactive and The Chinese Room confirmed that the long-awaited follow-up to the cult classic RPG Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines would finally arrive on October 21. However, the announcement was accompanied by a controversial decision to lock two of its in-game classes, known as clans, behind a $22 DLC pack that would be included in its Deluxe Edition. Unsurprisingly, this was met with criticism from fans given that clans offer significantly different gameplay experiences.
In a new statement, executive producer Marco Behrmann confirmed that the DLC plans have now been altered, with both the Lasombra and Toreador clans being made available for all players. "Thanks to our community for the frank feedback on Bloodlines 2 and the Premium Edition. That feedback made it clear: Lasombra and Toreador belong in the base game, so that is what we are doing," Behrmann said. "We’d also like to thank The Chinese Room for their quick turnaround on the concepts for the post-launch Story Packs. We’re constantly impressed by their creativity and skill in weaving enticing narrative threads that expand on the main story in Bloodlines 2."
With the last-minute change to the game’s DLC plans, the Premium Edition of the game will now offer an expansion pass, granting access to two post-launch “story packs.” The “Loose Cannon“ and “The Flower & The Flame” packs will focus on the stories of Brujah Sheriff Benny and Toreador Primogen Ysabella Moore, respectively, and will both arrive next year.
