Paradox Interactive and White Wolf

Paradox Interactive and White Wolf have revealed a new release date for Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 following several delays. However, it has been confirmed that it will receive a paid day-one DLC that will lock away two of the game’s class-like “clans.”

The details:

  • The long-awaited RPG will officially arrive on October 21 across PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC with a $60 price tag. Those who pre-order will receive the in-game Bloodlines Nostalgia Jukebox item, which can be found in hideouts known as a “Haven,” with the jukebox playing tracks from Rik Schaffer, the composer of the original game.
  • However, the announcement has not been without backlash, as the publishers shared that while the game will launch with six clans, two of those will be locked behind the Shadows and Silk DLC pack, which is available in its Deluxe Edition or as a separate $22 purchase.
  • Clans are essentially classes, providing different skills and stats that define which type of playthrough they will excel in and therefore directly influence the difficulty. According to the game’s official website, the two locked clans, Toreador and Lasombra, are catered to tricking and controlling opponents and stealth, respectively.
  • Originally in development under Hardsuit Labs, Bloodlines 2 is the direct follow-up to its 2004 predecessor, which has become a cult classic RPG. The title was set to arrive in 2020 before being delayed to 2021, when its creative director and lead narrative designer were fired and the project was handed over to The Chinese Room.
