Dark Math Games, a studio founded by former Disco Elysium developers, has announced that it has renamed its upcoming RPG ”XXXNightshift” as it changes the game from an isometric perspective to third-person.

The details:

  • As announced by the developer on Thursday, XXXNightshift is now known as Tangerine Antarctic, the name of the in-game hotel where it takes place. "Set at the World's End ski village at Mount Hope, British Antarctica, Tangerine Antarctic is the name of the in-game hotel, designed by renowned Estonian architect Kaur Stőőr, where most of the games' action takes place," explained studio founder and art director Timo Albert. "This is where you are stuck because of the blizzard and must solve the mysterious murders. And Tangerine Antarctic is one of the important characters of this true detective's RPG."
  • Along with the name change, the game’s perspective has also changed from isometric to third-person. Dark Math Games has not shared the reason behind the shift but has shared various new screenshots of the game over on its Steam store page.
  • The title was first announced in October 2024 alongside the public reveal of the studio. Dark Math Games was formed by a group of former developers from Disco Elysium studio ZA/UM after the company found itself in hot water over legal threats, toxic behavior accusations, and layoffs, prompting another group of employees to found Longdue Games.
