It has been reported that the live-action film adaptation of PlayStation's Until Dawn will be released in early 2025, after filming wrapped earlier this month.

The details:

  • According to Deadline, the horror film, directed by David F. Sandberg, will be released on April 25, 2025. Filming on the movie, which was produced under Sony's Screen Gems subsidiary, was completed in early October, as confirmed by Sandberg.

  • The film, which is based on the original 2015 PS4 game, will star Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Odessa A'zion, Maia Mitchell, and Peter Stormare, who will reprise his role as Dr. Hill. Annabelle and The Nun writer Gary Dauberman is also behind the screenplay, with Sandberg having previously worked with Dauberman on Annabelle: Creation.

  • It's unclear what choices the film will make, as one of the game's main draws was the ability for players to make different decisions throughout, resulting in sometimes gruesome outcomes for its cast. As a result, the game has multiple endings, and without the interactive options, fans are concerned about whether the movie will be unique enough to stand out.

  • The recent release of Until Dawn's remake for PC and PS5 has reignited interest in the franchise, with the cast and new ending hinting at a sequel. Despite this, the remake has received mixed reviews, with some fans criticizing the new visual changes and technical issues.
