Ubisoft delays XDefiant again after encountering issues with its public test

Ubisoft has announced that its free-to-play shooter will be delayed for the second time in a month due to "inconsistencies" discovered in its recent public test.

The details:

• The delay was announced by XDefiant's development team in a statement posted to X, thanking fans for participating in its public test last month before going on to share that it had revealed some issues that it believes need to be addressed before its full launch. This has caused the team to postpone the game's preseason, with more information on a new launch date and future testing coming later.
• This is the second time XDefiant has missed its expected launch window, after missing its expected summer release and then being delayed after failing console certification tests in September, prompting the game to receive an October release window.
• The delay could potentially work out in Ubisoft’s favor, as many have pointed out that October is an extremely busy month this year, with several AAA releases on the way, including rival shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, which is expected to launch in early November. Some have even suggested that the publisher wait until April or May of next year to capture COD's audience after the initial buzz has died down.

• Call of Duty players have already encountered cheaters during the Modern Warfare III beta, which is currently available only on PlayStation. Cheaters are thought to be using PS4 dev kits, as there is currently no public jailbreak firmware that allows players to connect to the PlayStation Network.
• Telltale Games has confirmed that several employees were let go in September, with the "very small” development team of The Wolf Among Us 2 confirmed to have been affected.
