Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot and CFO Frederick Duguet have confirmed that a new Ghost Recon title is currently in the works, though no official announcement has been made as of yet.

In a recent call with shareholders (via Game File), Guillemot and Duguet highlighted Rainbow Six Siege as Ubisoft’s “flagship game” following the launch of its Siege X update earlier this year. Regarding other upcoming titles from the company, the CEO casually revealed that a new Ghost Recon game was on the way alongside The Division 3 as it intends to “capitalize” on their success. “In addition to the flagship game that I just mentioned, our objective is to also make strong progress in the growing market, generally speaking, by continuing to enhance our current experiences that we offer—and capitalizing on upcoming launches, such as The Division and Ghost Recon,” Guillemot said.
The two executives also commented on the company’s recent investment from Chinese conglomerate Tencent, which resulted in the creation of a new subsidiary holding Ubisoft’s biggest franchises. Duguet shared that part of the investment will be used for the “future development of other major brand names,” once again mentioning Ghost Recon.
The Ghost Recon franchise has seen several ups and downs since its debut back in 2001, which offered a larger, more militarized take on the tactical shooter genre than Rainbow Six. Since then, it has adopted more arcade-style gameplay with Advanced Warfighter and Future Soldier before offering an open-world structure with Wildlands. Its latest entry, Breakpoint, was a critical and commercial failure, being panned for its always-online requirement and implementation of RPG-like gear levels.
