Ubisoft and Tencent form new subsidiary for Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry

Ubisoft has announced that it has formed a new subsidiary to focus on Assassin's Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry, with financial backing from Chinese gaming giant Tencent.
The details:
As announced in a new statement, the subsidiary, which marks a "new chapter" for the publisher, is "backed by greater investment and boosted creative capabilities" with a focus on growing the three IPs. It is currently valued at around €4 billion, with Tencent owning a 25% stake after investing €1.16 billion.
It is unclear how the creation of the subsidiary will directly affect the franchises at this time, but it has been confirmed that all future projects will be developed through the new subsidiary. The studios behind each series, Ubisoft Montréal, Quebec, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, Barcelona, and Sofia, have also been brought under the new entity.
The publisher also stated that the additional investment will "drive further increases in the quality of narrative solo experiences, expand multiplayer offerings with increased frequency of content release, introduce free-to-play touchpoints, and integrate more social features."
Regarding Ubisoft's other IPs, the publisher says it will "focus on nurturing the development of iconic franchises including Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon and The Division" while continuing to grow its business and "deliver state-of-the-art production game engines and online services."
The announcement follows previous reports that Ubisoft was in talks with Tencent about forming a “new venture” in an attempt to boost its revenue after years of underperformance. After its share prices began to plummet as a result of the poor commercial performance of its new releases, a number of mass layoffs occurred throughout the company, affecting thousands of employees. It was later claimed that Ubisoft's future was reportedly dependent on Assassin's Creed Shadows, which has fortunately been successful.
