Ubisoft has confirmed three of its fan-favorite Far Cry titles will receive significant performance upgrades later this week across current-generation platforms, allowing them to be played in 60 FPS.

The details:

  • The publisher announced the update via the official Far Cry X account, using emojis to spell out references to Far Cry 3, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, and Far Cry Primal, all receiving a 60 FPS upgrade. The account also confirmed that the post was referencing an update directly in response to a fan.
  • The patches are set to arrive on January 21 for current-gen consoles, and Ubisoft has released a video showing Far Cry 3 running at the higher frame rate, emphasizing that gameplay will run "smoother" with the performance boost.
  • This update follows a similar performance enhancement applied to Far Cry 4 last April, more than 10 years after its original release. Far Cry 4 had previously been available at 60 FPS on Xbox Series X through Microsoft's FPS Boost feature, but PS5 players were left with 30 FPS until the official patch.
