Pocketpair has announced “Palworld: Palfarm,” a spin-off focused on building and maintaining a successful farm with the help of friendly Pals.

The details:

  • The publisher announced the game on Tuesday, confirming it will be coming to PC, though no release date or news of a multi-platform launch has been confirmed. Players will start off on an island inhabited by Pals, who you will need to befriend and work alongside to gather resources, grow crops, build structures, mine ore, set up shops, and defend your farm against hostile Pals. “Even barren land can be transformed into a bountiful farm if you work hard together with your Pals,” the Steam description reads. “Each Pal makes use of its special abilities to help support your farm! Pals skilled at sowing will plant seeds, those good at watering will water the crops each day, and Pals skilled with their hands will help harvest crops or assist with crafting.”
  • While sharing similarities with other games in the genre, such as fellow indie hit Stardew Valley, Palfarm still holds some of the DNA from Palworld, namely its more mature content. Palfarm will feature a black market of sorts, allowing players to get ahold of rare materials as well as guns, which can be used by Pals when attacking enemies, much like Palworld.
  • Palfarm's announcement comes less than two weeks after Nintendo unveiled Pokopia, a Pokémon life sim with a similar premise. While this is most likely a coincidence, Nintendo and Pocketpair are still embroiled in a lawsuit in which Nintendo and The Pokémon Company accuse Pocketpair of patent infringement. Despite the ongoing legal battle, Pocketpair has stated that it will proceed with the upcoming release of Palworld 1.0 while fighting back legally.
