Ubisoft and Tencent have confirmed that their previously announced subsidiary has now begun operations and is named Vantage Studios, focused on Rainbow Six, Far Cry, and Assassin’s Creed.

The details:

  • Back in March, Ubisoft announced that it was forming a new subsidiary with Chinese gaming giant and investor Tencent, which would focus on the publisher’s biggest franchises. It said that the new subsidiary was "backed by greater investment and boosted creative capabilities,” with its most notable studios being included in the group.
  • The two parties have now confirmed that the subsidiary, now called Vantage Studios, has officially begun operations. The collective, led by co-CEOs Christophe Derennes and Charlie Guillemot, includes Ubisoft studios in Barcelona, Montréal, Quebec, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, and Sofia, with a total of approximately 2,300 employees across all locations.
  • The publisher has said that the less centralized model of Vantage Studios is based on “Creative Houses,” granting each studio greater control over their own projects compared to the rest of Ubisoft. In theory, this will allow each studio to better cater to player reactions and expectations during and after development, addressing core complaints much more quickly than before.
