Take-Two Interactive has reportedly made significant cuts to its publishing label Private Division, just days after studios Roll 7 and Intercept Games were rumored to be closing.

The details:

  • Earlier this week, it was reported that Take-Two had laid off employees at Intercept Games and Roll 7, with the company filing a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) stating that the cuts in Seattle were part of a closure.

  • As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, the layoffs appear to extend beyond the two developers, with sources claiming that a "vast majority" of employees at parent label Private Division have been let go. This includes staff across its Seattle, New York, Munich, and Las Vegas offices.

  • When asked for a comment by GamesIndustry.biz, Take-Two issued the same statement it had given to multiple publications about the potential closures of Intercept and Roll 7. "On April 16th, Take-Two announced a cost reduction program to identify efficiencies across its business and to enhance the Company's margin profile, while still investing for growth,” a company spokesperson said. “As part of these efforts, the Company is rationalizing its pipeline, eliminating several projects in development, and streamlining its organizational structure, which will eliminate headcount and reduce future hiring needs. The Company is not providing additional details on this program.”

  • Last month, Take-Two announced plans to reduce its workforce by 5%, affecting approximately 550 employees. This announcement came just weeks after the company's CEO claimed there were no plans for layoffs.
