VOID Interactive

Less than a week after its release, VOID Interactive has confirmed that the console port of Ready or Not has already sold over one million copies across Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.

The details:

  • In a post to LinkedIn, studio CEO Julio Rodriguez celebrated the impressive milestone, thanking fans and those behind the scenes for its success. “When we launched Ready or Not on PC, it took about 36 days to reach 1 million units sold,” he wrote. “On console, it took about 3.6 days. I’m incredibly proud of the team and what we’ve accomplished together. It’s a huge moment—and one we don’t take for granted. Game reviews are holding strong as we head into our first weekend, and the team is already hard at work ironing out issues and continuously improving the experience. To our players, partners, and everyone who believed in the project—thank you.“
  • Despite the milestone and positive reviews for the console port, the game’s release has not been without controversy. Prior to the console launch, VOID Interactive revealed that the game would be censored in several ways due to the tighter restrictions put forward by Sony, reducing elements of gore, nudity, and violence and changing some story elements relating to children. The changes affected all platforms due to crossplay, including PC.
  • While VOID has since stated that there have been “misconceptions” surrounding the censorship, players have continued to fire back by review bombing the game. Some have claimed that the title was once seen as a unique case of a developer going all out on realism with its harsh depictions of controversial subject matters, with a planned school shooting mission resulting in publisher Team17 stepping away from the game prior to its launch.
