Steam API error exposes achievement lists for hundreds of unreleased games including Persona 6 and Kingdom Hearts 4

A major Steam leak has exposed private achievement data for hundreds of unannounced and unreleased games after what appears to be an API access error on Valve's end. Among the games confirmed in the leak are Persona 6, Kingdom Hearts 4, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, Persona 4 Revival, and several completely unannounced titles.

The details:

  • The Kingdom Hearts 4 achievement list reveals the locations of multiple Disney worlds in the game, beyond the previously confirmed Coco world, along with story beats and gameplay details Square Enix has not publicly disclosed. The Persona 6 achievements confirm the game is set in Yokohama and that the main group of characters is called Hex — the first concrete story details for a game that hasn't been officially shown yet.
  • The leak also surfaced several fully unannounced games, including an unannounced port of Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright, a Nickelodeon game in the style of Animal Crossing, a new Tetris title, and a new collection of Telltale's The Walking Dead games. Steam has since confirmed 15 previously unannounced games were exposed.
  • Valve has not commented publicly on how the API restrictions were lifted, but the scope of the leak is substantial. Achievement lists typically contain enough information to reveal major story moments, world names, and gameplay systems for players who want to avoid them.
