Ubisoft has joined Xbox's disc-to-digital programme, with more publishers expected to follow

• The feature works by scanning a compatible Xbox One or Xbox Series X disc and issuing a digital licence, effectively granting ownership of a digital copy while keeping the physical disc. Supported Ubisoft titles include entries across Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Rainbow Six, The Division, Watch Dogs, and the South Park games The Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole.
• The timing is notable: Ubisoft's titles were added within 18 hours of media reports highlighting that major publishers including Ubisoft, SEGA, and Square Enix had not yet joined the service. Windows Central reports more publishers are expected to sign on following Ubisoft's participation.
