Star Wars Outlaws creative director Julian Gerighty has stated that, while he is disappointed with the game's review scores on sites such as Metacritic, the team at Ubisoft Massive intends to continue supporting it.

The details:

  • Gerighty told GamesRadar that while he was disappointed that Outlaws only received a solid 76 critic score on Metacritic, it still provided its developers with a "level of pride, happiness, and sense of accomplishment." "I'm a little disappointed with the Metacritic," Gerighty said. "Of course, recognition from press and critics is very important to us, but players are really connecting with what we did."

  • Despite his disappointment, Gerighty believes the game will still be played by "millions of people for years and years," and Massive will "never stop improving it." The director clarified that while the studio will inevitably stop working on it at some point, "today my mind is not on stopping improving it."

  • While critics have praised Outlaws, fans have mixed feelings about the first open-world Star Wars game. While its gameplay systems and story have received positive feedback, some players have criticized Ubisoft's practices surrounding its release. To play the game early, players had to purchase either the $110 Gold and $130 Ultimate edition, but PS5 players were then told a day later to restart their saves due to a game-breaking glitch. The game's season pass also includes an exclusive mission, which sparked backlash, prompting Ubisoft to argue that the content is "optional."
