Splitgate: Arena Reloaded developer responds to low player numbers, says Steam Charts "don’t measure fun"

Developer 1047 Games has responded to reports concerning Splitgate: Arena Reloaded's launch player counts, stating that numbers alone don't represent the experience.

The details:

  • Earlier this week, several news outlets highlighted that Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, the relaunch of last year’s Splitgate 2, had failed to capture a strong audience, with an average of just 1,000 concurrent players on PC a month after its release.
  • 1047 Games has now posted a statement on social media this week addressing the reports. The developer emphasized that the numbers don’t show the full picture, as the game is also available on consoles. “Steam Charts don’t measure fun,” the message reads. “They show one number, on one platform, at one given moment. They don’t show the full picture or what it feels like to actually play, and they definitely don’t capture the community that’s actively helping shape what Arena Reloaded is becoming (including upcoming content like Arena Royale).”
  • The developer's statement concluded with a message thanking the existing community for their feedback and passion, while inviting new players to try out Arena Reloaded for free and "form your own opinion.” “To our amazing community: thank you,” 1047 wrote. “Your feedback and passion have helped make Arena Reloaded better every day. And to everyone who hasn’t played yet: Arena Reloaded is free, the gameplay’s the best it’s ever been, and we’d love for you to jump in and form your own opinion. A lot of passionate people worked very hard on it.”
