It has been officially confirmed that the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake will be released exclusively for consoles on the PlayStation 5 before expanding to other platforms in October 2025.

The details:

  • The length of the exclusivity deal was confirmed at the end of the game's recently released Immersion Trailer, which stated that it will be a PS5 console exclusive and available on "other platforms" a year after launch on October 8, 2025. As the exclusivity agreement only applies to consoles, the PC version will be released at the same time as the PS5 version.

  • The Immersion Trailer also revealed more details about features coming in the PS5 version, including full support for the DualSense controller's haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, as well as 3D audio and 4K resolution. The DualSense's lightbar will also change throughout the game to track James's health.

  • Initial reactions to the remake were mixed, with many fans concerned that it would significantly alter the core Silent Hill 2 experience, just like the original development team wanted before Bloober Team opposed the idea. Following criticism of its combat trailer, which raised concerns that the remake would focus on action rather than horror, the developer assured fans that it did not "capture the spirit of the game."
