Shantae developer WayForward is working on retro Halloween and Ash vs Evil platformers
Boss Team Games has announced that WayForward is creating two 16-bit platformer games based on classic horror franchises Evil Dead and Halloween for its new RetroRealms series.
The details:
Earlier this week, publisher Boss Team Games revealed that it was developing two games based on the 1978 film Halloween. The company confirmed that one of the projects would be built in Unreal Engine 5, with original film director John Carpenter directly involved, causing fans to speculate about the second title.
IGN has now reported that the unknown second game is a "gore-filled" and "fast-paced 90's arcade style" retro platformer that will be released alongside a similar game based on the TV series Ash vs. Evil Dead. Owners of both games will also be able to play as Ash and Michael Myers in each other's game.
Both titles will launch on PS4/5, Xbox One and Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on October 18. They will be available individually for $24.99 USD through digital storefronts, but a $49.99 physical version containing both games is also in the works.
