Two Halloween games in development at Evil Dead publisher, John Carpenter "intimately involved"
Boss Team Games, the publisher of 2022's Evil Dead: The Game, is creating two games based on John Carpenter's legendary Halloween horror film franchise, with the director confirmed to be involved in one of the projects.
The details:
As reported by IGN, both games will be based on the original 1978 Halloween film, which starred the now-iconic killer Michael Myers and Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode. Little is known about the projects at this time, but the developer states that both will allow fans to "relive moments from the film and play as classic characters."
Boss Team Games has revealed that one of the games will be created in Unreal Engine 5, with Carpenter being "intimately involved." In a statement to IGN, the director stated: "As a huge gamer myself, I'm thrilled to help bring Michael Myers to life again in this game, and my hope is to scare you silly."
There has only been one official Halloween video game adaptation to date, Wizard Video's 1983 Halloween on the Atari 2600. Michael Myers has since made an appearance as a DLC character in Dead by Daylight, alongside other classic horror franchise villains.
Boss Team Games' Evil Dead: The Game was well received upon its release in 2022, but the multiplayer title lacked polish and received little post-launch support from Boss Team or its developer Saber Interactive. Just a year and a half later, development ended entirely, with the Nintendo Switch port being canceled.
