Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser's studio is working on an "open world action-adventure" game
Absurd Ventures, a company founded by Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser last year, has posted a job listing revealing that it is working on an "open world action-adventure game."
The details:
As spotted by Eurogamer, a new job posting for the position of "Lead Gameplay Designer" at the company describes the project as an "open world action-adventure game" with the goal of delivering "best-in-class combat and third-person action across multiple game modes." The description does not reveal much, but it does suggest that the game is being developed in Unreal Engine 4 or 5, with experience with the engine listed as a plus.
The project appears to be in its early stages, as Absurd is also searching for other senior-level staff, such as art and technical directors, a senior producer, and another lead designer.
Absurd Ventures was revealed in 2023, with former Rockstar developers joining Houser, including Lazlow Jones and Michael Unsworth. The company announced two upcoming projects, American Caper and A Better Paradise, which are described as "universes" that will explore a "wide range of formats and platforms." An American Caper graphic novel will be released later this year, and A Better Paradise will debut as a podcast.
