Revival of cancelled MMORPG Blue Protocol will receive a global release this year

Bandai Namco announced last year that it would be shutting down anime MMORPG Blue Protocol due to low player numbers and mixed reviews. However, after Tencent acquired the rights, the game is returning, with a worldwide release planned for later this year.
The details:
In late 2024, it was announced that Tencent-backed developer BOKURA had acquired the Blue Protocol IP from Bandai Namco and would relaunch the short-lived game under the name "Star Resonance". The revival was described as based on the original Blue Protocol MMO, but with overhauled systems and a new storyline that addressed the game's core issues.
BOKURA has now confirmed that Blue Protocol: Star Resonance will be released as a free-to-play title on PC, iOS, and Android in 2025. This will be the first time Blue Protocol is available outside of Japan after the testing phase, and it will support full cross-play and progression between mobile and PC. An exact release date has yet to be announced, but the official website is now live, and players can wishlist and pre-register on their respective platforms.
Announced back in 2022, Blue Protocol was a highly anticipated MMORPG from Bandai Namco with a focus on fast-paced action gameplay and featured anime-style visuals. The game went through several betas before releasing in Japan in June 2023, where it was met with mixed reviews due to its gameplay systems, lack of content, and poor storytelling. As a result, its player base plummeted, and it was announced in August of last year that the game would be shutting down, with its global version never receiving a full release.
