It has been reported that Nintendo has requested its manufacturing partners to produce more Switch 2 consoles, as it expects sales to reach beyond 20 million units within the fiscal year.

The details:

  • As reported by Bloomberg, Nintendo has asked its suppliers to ramp up production ahead of the critical holiday shopping season, counting on demand to persist over the coming holidays and into 2026. It expects as many as 25 million units to be produced by the end of March 2026.
  • The ambitious production target suggests Nintendo could comfortably surpass analysts' estimates of 17.6 million units sold in the fiscal year ending March 2026, with the company now expected to sell roughly 20 million units this fiscal year based on shipping estimates from its assembly partners.
  • This represents a significant increase from Nintendo's own forecast of 15 million units announced earlier in 2025. The Switch 2 has had one of the biggest launches in gaming history, selling 3.5 million units worldwide in its first four days and reaching 5.82 million units by the end of June, making it the fastest-selling Nintendo console ever.
