Nintendo is acquiring Bandai Namco Studios Singapore, a developer that has collaborated on several of its projects, renaming the studio to Nintendo Studios Singapore.

The details:

  • As announced by Nintendo, the company intends to acquire 80% of the studio’s shares from Bandai Namco on April 1, 2026, with the remaining 20% set to be acquired “after a certain period, once the subsidiary’s operations have stabilized.” Despite getting a new name, Nintendo has stated that the developer will “continue its development operations” as usual.
  • Founded in 2013, Bandai Namco Studios Singapore has worked on major franchises such as Tekken, Ace Combat, and Nintendo’s multiplayer shooter Splatoon. "BNSS was established as one of Bandai Namco Group’s overseas bases and is a development company with strong expertise in creating in-game art assets. It has contributed to the development of Nintendo titles, including the Splatoon series, and has an ongoing business relationship with Nintendo," reads the press release.
  • It’s unknown what projects the studio is directly involved in, but given its history with Splatoon, the acquisition was likely a result of the development of Splatoon Raiders, which was announced earlier this year.
